Fall is officially here in the Ozarks.
The days are getting shorter. October is arriving. Pumpkins are appearing on porches. And if your idea of celebrating Halloween involves dark hallways, creepy characters, unexpected noises, and at least a few moments when you seriously question why you walked through that door in the first place… Branson has something new waiting for you.
Field of Screams Branson opens this Friday, October 2, at Ballparks of America, bringing a brand-new indoor haunted attraction to Branson just in time for spooky season.
And this isn’t your typical haunted house.
Field of Screams Branson has taken a familiar sports setting and transformed it into something much darker: 9th Inning Nightmare, an immersive horror experience where the ballpark atmosphere takes a terrifying turn.
For this week’s Wonder Wednesday, we’re heading into the darkness to see if we can survive the ninth inning.
👻 Batter up.
When the Ballpark Goes Dark
There’s something inherently unsettling about a place designed to hold thousands of people suddenly becoming empty and quiet.
That feeling provides the backdrop for 9th Inning Nightmare.
The story begins with a venue that has seemingly been abandoned for years. The gates are locked. The lights are broken. The parking lots sit empty.
But according to the legend, the building may not be quite as abandoned as it appears.
There are whispers of screams coming from inside after dark. Shadows move through the upper stands long after midnight. And now, after years of sitting silent, the gates have reopened.
Would you go inside?
Welcome to the 9th Inning Nightmare
Once you enter, the familiar world of baseball begins to disappear.
Guests make their way through dark corridors, tunnels, and fog-filled passageways while encountering corrupted workers, crazed fans, roaming creatures, and plenty of other things you probably don’t want waiting for you around the next corner.
The deeper you venture into the attraction, the more unpredictable it becomes.
Lights flicker. Alarms echo through the halls. Metal doors slam. And that nagging feeling that something—or someone—is following you becomes increasingly difficult to ignore.
With cinematic sets, live actors, animatronics, special effects, intense audio, fog, strobes, and plenty of surprises, 9th Inning Nightmare is designed to overwhelm the senses and keep you guessing about what might happen next.
And unlike a baseball game, I’m not sure you’ll be hoping for extra innings.
More Than a Haunted House
For now, the screams begin with 9th Inning Nightmare, but Field of Screams Branson has even bigger plans for the future.
The haunted house is the first piece of what is being developed as a larger entertainment complex designed to go beyond the traditional haunted attraction. Coming soon, plans call for additional experiences including escape rooms, laser tag, midway-style games, concessions, and themed retail.
Eventually, the idea is to create a place where guests can come for more than a trip through the haunted house—they can make an entire evening of it.
But first things first.
This October, it’s all about 9th Inning Nightmare.
So grab your bravest friends, step through the gates, and find out who can make it through without screaming.
And yes, everyone in your group will probably insist it was somebody else.
The Nightmare Begins October 2
Field of Screams Branson officially opens Friday, October 2, and continues on select nights throughout October.
The attraction will be open October 2–4, 8–11, 15–18, 22–25, and 29–31, giving thrill seekers plenty of opportunities to test their courage before Halloween.
The box office opens at 6 p.m.
On Thursdays and Sundays, the attraction operates from 7–11 p.m., while Friday and Saturday nights keep the scares going from 7 p.m. until midnight.
And apparently Halloween isn’t quite the end of the nightmare.
When Halloween Meets Christmas
Just when you think it’s safe to put away the Halloween decorations and start thinking about Christmas, Field of Screams has one more surprise.
A special Halloween/Christmas crossover event is planned for November 6–7 and 13–14.
Exactly what happens when holiday cheer collides with a haunted attraction?
You may have to be brave enough to find out.
