There’s something special about live music under an open Ozarks sky. Add the beauty of Table Rock Lake, a cool September evening, and some of country music’s biggest personalities, and you have the makings of a pretty unforgettable night.
This week’s Wonder Wednesday takes us just outside Branson to Black Oak Amphitheater in Lampe, where a new chapter is unfolding at one of the area’s most unique outdoor concert venues.
And there couldn’t be a better week to rediscover it.
This Friday, September 11, Big & Rich take the stage with special guest Craig Morgan for a concert commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the show beginning at 6:30 p.m.
But before we get to Friday night, there’s a bigger story to tell.
A New Era at Black Oak
If your memories of Black Oak Amphitheater are from years past, it may be time to take another look.
Nestled in the Ozark Mountains near Table Rock Lake, the outdoor venue has been undergoing improvements designed around one goal: making the entire concert experience better, from the moment guests arrive until the final song of the night.
It’s not about becoming the biggest venue around. In fact, Black Oak has embraced a philosophy that captures exactly what it wants to be:
“Not the Biggest, Simply the Best.”
That intimate setting is part of Black Oak’s appeal. There’s something different about watching your favorite artist perform surrounded by the natural beauty of the Ozarks rather than inside a traditional arena.
Here, the setting becomes part of the show.
More Than a Concert
A night at Black Oak doesn’t have to begin when the headliner takes the stage.
The venue’s courtyard pre-show parties extend the experience with local and up-and-coming performers, food, drinks, games, and plenty of reasons to arrive early and enjoy the atmosphere.
For concertgoers looking to make the evening even more memorable, Black Oak also offers VIP experiences. For Friday’s Big & Rich concert, VIP benefits include a private express entrance, private cash bar and restrooms, a complimentary buffet dinner, access to a covered pavilion before and after the concert, and VIP parking.
In other words, this isn’t simply a place to arrive, find your seat, watch a concert, and head home.
The idea is to make the entire evening part of the experience.
This Friday: A Night of Music and Remembrance
Friday night promises to be particularly meaningful.
September 11, 2026, marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and Black Oak will commemorate the anniversary with an evening centered around music, remembrance, gratitude, and honoring those who serve.
Big & Rich will headline the night, joined by special guest Craig Morgan, bringing two powerhouse country acts to the Black Oak stage. The official concert listing has doors opening at 5 p.m. and the show beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The evening is also planned to include a Parade of Heroes honoring first responders, military members, and veterans, along with a remembrance video montage, community recognition, and fireworks.
It’s a chance to enjoy an incredible night of country music while also taking time to remember the lives lost 25 years ago and recognize the men and women who have served our communities and our country.
For an anniversary this significant, gathering together beneath the Ozarks sky feels especially meaningful.
Big & Rich Take the Stage
Few country acts know how to turn a concert into a party quite like Big & Rich.
The duo has built a career around high-energy performances and a sound that refuses to fit neatly into one box. Country, rock, and plenty of personality come together when they take the stage—and Black Oak’s outdoor setting should make Friday night even more memorable.
Add Craig Morgan to the lineup, and you have a night made for country music fans.
Tickets are still available through Black Oak Amphitheater, with current listed prices ranging from $28.50 to $166.71 depending on seating and experience.

And Black Oak Isn’t Finished Yet
Friday may be the immediate reason to head to Black Oak, but it won’t be the last.
On Saturday, October 10, the venue plans to launch its first annual ROCKTOBERFEST, an all-day celebration designed for families, the community, and rock fans.
The day begins with free admission from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring food trucks, vendors, games, activities, and live music. The Comancheros are scheduled to perform on the American Rebel Light Courtyard Stage from 1–4 p.m.
Then the volume goes up.
The ticketed evening concert begins at 5:30 p.m., with Cody Parks & The Dirty South headlining alongside Paralandra, Order of the Machine, and Whisper to Scream.
The hope is that Rocktoberfest will become another fall tradition at Table Rock Lake—and another reason to keep an eye on what’s happening at Black Oak.
Come See What You’ve Been Missing
There are plenty of places to hear live music in the Ozarks, but there’s something undeniably special about an outdoor concert surrounded by the hills near Table Rock Lake.
Black Oak Amphitheater is embracing that setting while creating a new experience around it—one built on great music, hospitality, community, and making the entire night memorable.
If you haven’t been to Black Oak in a while, Friday night might be the perfect time to come back.
If you’ve never been, this is a pretty spectacular introduction.
Come early. Enjoy the atmosphere. Remember and honor. Sing along. Stay for the fireworks.
And discover why Black Oak Amphitheater says:
“Not the Biggest, Simply the Best.”
