Let the Ozarks Put on a Show
Summer may be winding down, but here in Branson, the fun is just getting started.
September and October are two of my favorite months in the Ozarks. The temperatures begin to cool, the hills slowly trade their summer greens for brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold, and Branson’s calendar fills with everything from roaring jets and rumbling motorcycles to superstar concerts, fall festivals, and thousands of glowing pumpkins.
There’s something about fall in Branson that feels special. You can spend the afternoon enjoying the beauty of the Ozarks, catch an incredible show or concert in the evening, and still discover something completely unexpected along the way.
And this year? Fall in Branson is shaping up to be one for the books.
Look to the Skies
Labor Day weekend gets September off to a high-flying start with the return of the Branson Wings of Pride Air Show, September 5–7 at Branson Airport.
Headlining this year’s show are the legendary U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, bringing their precision flying, incredible speed, and breathtaking aerial maneuvers to the skies over the Ozarks.
The weekend will also feature military aircraft, thrilling aerobatic performances, and some of the most talented pilots in the sky. Whether you’re a lifelong aviation enthusiast or simply looking for an unforgettable family experience, this is one weekend when you’ll definitely want to look up.
Branson Is Ready to Rumble
The following weekend brings a completely different kind of roar to the Ozarks.
The first-ever Harley-Davidson National H.O.G. Rally at Full Throttle rolls into Branson September 10–12 as part of Branson Bike Week, bringing Harley-Davidson enthusiasts from near and far together for three days of riding, live music, special activities, and plenty of opportunities to experience some of the beautiful roads that wind through the Ozarks.
The rally also coincides with September 11, adding a meaningful moment to the weekend. A special 9/11 remembrance ceremony is planned to honor those who lost their lives and the heroes who answered the call.
Against the backdrop of the Ozark hills, it promises to be a weekend filled with camaraderie, remembrance, and the unmistakable rumble of motorcycles throughout Branson.
The Music Never Stops
Of course, you can’t talk about Branson without talking about live music, and September is bringing some pretty big names to town.
On September 11, country superstars Big & Rich bring their 25th Anniversary celebration to Black Oak Amphitheater, joined by special guest Craig Morgan. Just one night later, the sound shifts from country to rock when Guns N’ Roses takes over Thunder Ridge Nature Arena on September 12.
And the music keeps coming at Silver Dollar City.
Diamond Rio performs September 12, followed by Aaron Tippin on September 19. Then, on September 26, Missouri-grown country music star Sara Evans takes the stage in Echo Hollow® Amphitheatre.
Country. Rock. Legends. Hometown favorites.
That’s Branson.
And those special concerts are only part of the story. Branson’s theaters continue to fill stages throughout the fall with the live entertainment that has made this destination famous. From country and gospel to comedy, magic, rock ’n’ roll, and spectacular theatrical productions, there’s always another curtain about to rise.
Fall Looks Good on the Ozarks
The entertainment may bring people to Branson, but Mother Nature puts on a pretty spectacular fall show of her own.
One of the best places to celebrate the season is Silver Dollar City, where the Harvest Festival, presented by Humana, returns September 11 through October 31.
By day, the park celebrates the craftsmanship, flavors, and traditions of autumn in the Ozarks. Visitors can meet visiting craftsmen and cowboys, enjoy seasonal foods and pumpkin-inspired treats, and explore a park transformed by tens of thousands of pumpkins and larger-than-life carved masterpieces.
Then, beginning September 18, the atmosphere changes as the sun goes down.
Pumpkins in the City® presented by Mercy illuminates the park with glowing pumpkins, extended nighttime hours, night rides, and pumpkin dance parties in The Plaza. Familiar corners of Silver Dollar City take on an entirely different personality after dark, creating one of the most colorful ways to celebrate fall in Branson.
Let the Ozarks Put on a Show
Beyond the scheduled events, fall is simply a beautiful time to explore this part of Missouri.
As autumn settles over the region, Table Rock Lake reflects the changing colors of the surrounding hills, scenic drives become destinations of their own, and cooler temperatures make it the perfect time to get outside and explore.
Take a drive through the Ozarks. Spend an afternoon by the lake. Visit one of Branson’s outdoor attractions. Find a patio, order something delicious, and enjoy the weather.
Sometimes the best part of a fall getaway is leaving a little room in the schedule for whatever catches your attention along the way.
There’s Always More to Discover
And that’s really the beauty of Branson.
The big events may grab the headlines, but there are countless experiences waiting in between them.
Our theaters are filled with incredible live entertainment. Attractions offer everything from family adventures and wildlife encounters to underground caverns and mountain thrills. Restaurants serve up barbecue, Ozarks comfort food, international flavors, fine dining, and plenty of sweet treats. Downtown Branson invites you to slow down and explore, while Table Rock Lake and the surrounding hills provide a spectacular backdrop for the entire season.
You can build a trip around a concert, festival, or special event and discover a dozen other reasons to come back before you ever leave.
That’s what I love about Branson. There’s always another show to see, another place to explore, another meal to enjoy, and another memory waiting to be made.
With so much incredible entertainment, attractions, dining, natural beauty, and good old-fashioned Ozarks hospitality packed into one destination, I’m pretty proud to call the Ozarks home.
And this fall, I can’t think of a better place to be.
